Keith Murch - Biography

For over thirty years, Keith has played professionally with many jazz combos and big bands. He has shared the stage with many of Canada's greatest jazz musicians. He also fronts his own duo or trio regularly at restaurants and other venues in Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge and Guelph. In recent years, Keith has performed at the Guelph Jazz Festival, Hillside Festival, the Waterloo Jazz Festival, the Stratford Jazz Festival and the London Big Band Festival. He has also been featured as a musical guest on numerous television shows on Rogers Cable TV and City TV in Toronto.

Keith Murch comes from a family of jazz guitarists. Keith's father, Doug Murch, has been a recognized jazz guitarist in Southern Ontario for decades. At a very early age, Keith learned the fundamentals of the guitar from his father, who also introduced him to jazz. In his teens, Keith began playing with local bands and expanded his jazz skills and repertoire. By the time he was old enough to be in the jazz clubs, he was a busy sideman working with a number of local groups.

In addition to playing and studying jazz guitar for most of his life, Keith also studied classical guitar and music theory with the Royal Conservatory of Music.
